Default Trying to do Justice to an Old favourite The Martial Artist

I've seen a few posts about a concept class called the martial artist. As i've thought this would be a good addition to guild wars many times. Here were my Ideas.

Just updated a little to make it sound a little clearer.

Primary Attribute: Focus

Secondary Attributes:
Form Mastery
Chi Mastery
Combat Mastery

At level 20(with no bonus's ie. runes and such)
HP 500
EN 40 max with 3 regen(not including items held)
AP depending 60 to 70

Ok this is how I would describe the attributes, and as I know balance is an issue. I don’t know much about how to balance them out, so yeah I hope I describe the attributes well enough so others can balance it out correctly and well.

Focus being the Primary attribute would increase the skill with which any action is preformed. Dmg increased for skill/spells/etc… and a +1-2 chance at increasing the skill level of attributes (max lvl16) plus the overall energy at the characters disposal.

Forms being the movements that a Martial Artist uses to master fighting styles these would be considered mostly stances and preparations that are used to increase attack Dmg, Defend against attacks, Dodge attacks etc... For every Form level when a Form is used in sequence the duration is increased for each Form up to 20% maximum.

Chi Mastery is the mysterious basis of most Martial Arts a universal force that can be accessed by everyone who is willing to learn how. Chi Mastery would contain the old fogotten and mystical skills that one could learn. These skills would vary in range from close to long. This attribute decreases cost of Energy cost of spell/attacks/preparations/etc… by a maximum of 25%.

Combat Mastery is where the Character has endured, learn and experienced true combat. Combat mastery would increase physical dmg done by the character aswell as or increase the defense of the character to physical and elemental attacks. This attribute would also include preperations and a couple of stances that are attributed to old training methods.

As in PvP depending on the player choice of distribution of skill levels, this character could be used as a support, tank or interrupter. Most like the later would be best use for a Primary Martial artist.

Just a few Skills that could be include
Focus:

Unwavering Focus {elite} - 10/2/30 (en/cast/cooldown) Elite Focus Stance

2 Punch Combo - 5/0/15 Combat Melee Attack
This first puch deals 5..10 damage and can not be blocked, second punch deals 10..20 damage and can not be dodged.

As you can probably see how i've been thinking about a Martial Artist Class where Combat contains primarily melee attacks, Chi contains mainly long range and support attacks, Forms contain Skills for supporting a straight forward fighting style approach without relying on heavily on skill based attacks and focus increases the standard abilities of character.

I've also thought about the style of armor and weapons a character would need, to make it look not exactly the same as any others. For weapons i though a Focus weapon should be a Material Arm wrap, Forms require discipline so Arm brands may be an idea, Chi would probably benefit most from Fore-Arm Guards and Combat's would be knuckles of some kind or could go as far as nunchucks, also wrist wieghts could be used across all.

About the armor it would have to be easy to move in and actually provide some protection so hardened leather would probably be the go, a vest cut off at the shoulders with mesh under, ‘Finger cut Gloves’ for the hands these could go upto just shy of the elbow, Pant not to baggy but loose enough, for the feet wieghted boots or open toed sandles kind things and as for the head, head bands would probably do but maybe something else would be good to.

But these are just my ideas on the topic, i think it needs major tweaking to balance out, but tell me what you all think. The reason I didn’t add a Chi Blast/ball power is I thought it would look to dragon ball-ie… Although if they/anyone wanted to include one I would mind .

Ok Chi Mastery sounds a lot like Energy Storage, but other than that it seems pretty good.

I like the idea. It really would be a nice addition to Guild Wars. I love the idea of demoralizing the enemies with Levitation.

Also, organize and fix up some of your descriptions. They are unorganized and hard to understand.

Feel the Chi skills are a bit weak in excution. Right now they just sound like most spells, with vary effect, but not actually play differently.

I would build more on it, taking (Stealing) the concept of Ragnarok's Monk's Chi Orb.
